A 12-year-old boy was arrested on November 27 after leading police on a brief pursuit across Washington state in his grandfather’s stolen car.
The incident began when the boy, whose identity has not been released, took the vehicle from his grandfather’s home in Issaquah.
The boy drove over 160 miles across the mountains before being spotted by deputies in Grant County. After a short chase, police used a PIT maneuver to stop the vehicle near Randolph Road and State Route 17.

The boy had reportedly driven the stolen car from Issaquah to Moses Lake, and was later taken into custody. Fortunately, there were no injuries in the chase, and damage to the car was minimal.
The 12-year-old was transferred to the Chelan County Juvenile Justice Center, where he faces charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and felony eluding. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
