2023 VGMA: I deserve to win Songwriter of the Year again – Fameye

By Stermy 3 Min Read

Fameye, a 28-year-old Ghanaian musician and songwriter, is once again a nominee in the “Songwriter” category for the upcoming 24th VGMA.

He exudes confidence in his unique style and soulful lyrics, which he believes make him a strong contender for the coveted award.

Born Peter Famiyeh Bozah, the award-winning singer shared his thoughts on winning the “Songwriter” of the Year award in a recent interview with the hosts of New Day on TV3.

He expressed his desire to touch the hearts of people and connect with them through his music, making him a deserving winner of the award.

While he acknowledges that his lyrical abilities are well-known, he does not want to come across as a braggart. He believes that the award would not serve as validation of his talent, but rather, it would give him some bragging rights for the hard work he has put in.

“I should take the Song Of Writer every year because when I release my music I want it to touch the hearts of people and connect with them,”

“Everyone knows that if it comes to the lyrics… but I am not being a braggart. The award is not actually giving me the validation that I’m good… The award is giving me some bragging rights because I know I put in the work and I deserve to win.” he said.

In 2022, Fameye made headlines by breaking Kofi Kinaata’s undefeated streak as the “Songwriter” of the Year at the VGMA.

While Kinaata is not included in this year’s “Songwriter” category, Fameye faces stiff competition from other talented songwriters, including Piese Esther with “Way3 Mi Yie,” Black Sherif’s “OH Paradise,” Perez Music’s “Hewale Lala,” Diana Hamilton’s “My Meditation,” and “This Far” from the Staples of Ewura Abena.
