After a long wait, it’s finally here as we present to you the much-awaited 2024 MTV VMA Winners.
The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards was originally scheduled to take place on September 10, 2024, but was rescheduled to Wednesday, September 11, to avoid conflicts with the presidential debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
The organizers of the award scheme announced the nomination list for the 2024 edition on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, The list was topped by Taylor Swift again with the highest nod for the second time in a row.
Eminem opened the VMAs with a medley of his singles “Houdini” and “Somebody Save Me,” incorporating a televised feed of Jelly Roll. (The song refers to Jelly Roll’s big country radio hit “Save Me.”)
The evening also featured performances by Anitta, Benson Boone, Katy Perry, Camila Cabello, GloRilla, Chappell Roan, Jessie Murph, Halsey, LISA, Rauw Alejandro, Megan Thee Stallion, LL COOL J, Shawn Mendes, Sabrina Carpenter, and more.
Taylor Swift took home the trophies for best collaboration, best pop, song of the summer, best direction and best editing all thanks to her milestone year and the black-and-white “Fortnight” video, the song featured Post Malone. She also emerged as the Artist of the year winner.
Meanwhile Chappell Roan beat the likes of Benson Boone, Gracie Abrams, Shaboozey, Teddy Swims, and Tyla to win the Best New Artist of the year category award.
MTV VMA 2024 Winners
Katy Perry received the Video Vanguard Award and also gave an outstanding performance. Perry joins the ranks of past winners, which include Shakira, Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, and Missy Elliott. These musicians have all made an unforgettable impression on the music business, and Perry’s presence on this list demonstrates her impact and influence.
