WONDERS! 29-year-old man given Jail term for unlawful gambling

News reaching Townflex is that a 29-year-old man has been given a prison term for running an illegal gaming establishment in the Central Region.

Unfortunately on his part, the young man was reportedly sentenced to nine good months in prison by the Assin Fosu District Court in the Central Region for running a business without a permit.

Shockingly, Isaac Eyison, the culprit who was found guilty, admitted to running prohibited betting games in public.

Meanwhile, Chief Inspector Gilbert Ayongo, the prosecutor, revealed that after the police started a patrol to crack down on illegal companies that were popping up inside the Fosu Municipal Assembly, they apprehended the convict Isaac Eyison.

As a result, the defendant entered a guilty plea to the charges after being brought before the court.

Background

It was on Sunday, June 6, 2022, the prosecutor made this report public. He claimed that Assin-Fosu police had gathered information regarding the convict’s unlawful gambling activities, which had attracted a sizable following.

He continued by saying that when Chief Inspector Johnson Dzikunu went to the gambling establishment, the others fled, leaving the proprietor, who had been detained by police.

Three mobile phones, watches, eyeglasses, five pieces of black square-shaped wood wrapped with a black rubber band, and GHC 510 cash were among the items reportedly taken from the convict.

After being taken to the police station, he was questioned there but didn’t respond to some of the inquiries and didn’t provide his license to run the gambling establishment.

Meanwhile, Isaac Eyison was given a nine-month prison sentence by Abdul Majeed Illiasu’s court.
