Three India Air Force officers are currently in a big mess, for mistakenly firing a BrahMos missile into Pakistan.
The missile was fired accidentally from the Indian side into an area in Pakistan, in a “very unfortunate” occurrence that the defense ministry attributed to “technical malfunction”.
According to the government while making this known to the public on Tuesday, said the incident happened earlier this year.

Per a statement made by the Air Force on Tuesday, the BrahMos missile was fired accidentally on March 9, 2022.
“A BrahMos missile was accidentally fired on 09 March 2022. A Court of Inquiry (Col), set up to establish the facts of the case, including fixing responsibility for the incident, found that deviation from the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) by three officers led to the accidental firing of the missile,” the Air Force said in a statement.
“These three officers have primarily been held responsible for the incident. Their services have been terminated by the Central Govt with immediate effect. Termination orders have been served upon the officers on 23 Aug 22,” it added.
The Pakistani authorities have also determined that the launched missile traveled more than 100 kilometers within their airspace before it landed, at a height of 40,000 feet and a speed of three times the speed of sound. They have also noted that the missile had no warhead, thus it did not explode.
“Be careful of the painful implications of such neglect and take proactive efforts to avoid the recurrence of similar transgressions in future,” Pakistan admonished India.
Pakistan demanded an investigation into the event, claiming it might have put civilian lives and passenger planes at danger.
