A 35-year-old Texas man has been arrested after allegedly causing his 65-year-old girlfriend to suffer third-degree burns by pouring scalding-hot soup on her, reportedly because she was “talking too much.”
The incident, which took place on February 28, has led to multiple charges against Alexander Alton McDavid, including assault, injury to an elderly person, and continuous violence against a family member.
McDavid, of Waco, is accused of violently attacking his 67-year-old girlfriend at their apartment, hitting her with a plate of hot soup that had just been microwaved.
The attack left severe third-degree burns on the victim’s right shoulder and forearm. According to the affidavit, the victim was unable to seek immediate medical attention due to lack of access to a car or cell phone, and it wasn’t until days later that she was able to report the abuse to authorities.

The victim told police that she had been in a relationship with McDavid for about a year before the abuse began. She revealed that McDavid had previously choked her, but she had never reported the incident to police.
McDavid’s history of violent behavior includes prior convictions for family violence assault in both 2017 and 2021.
The victim managed to encounter police officers while visiting a Social Security office, where she disclosed the details of the abuse.
McDavid was arrested and booked into McLennan County Jail on charges of resisting arrest, according to jail records, terroristic threats, and bodily injury, among others. He is currently being held with a bond set at $130,000.
Authorities are continuing their investigation, and McDavid’s violent history raises serious concerns about his potential to cause further harm.
The case has drawn attention to the dangers of domestic violence and the importance of protecting vulnerable individuals.
