69.5 Million Likes: Messi’s World Cup Photos Become Most-Liked Photo On Instagram

A new milestone has been reached by Lionel Messi.

Photos he shared after his nation defeated France on Sunday to capture the World Cup received 69.5 million likes, making them Instagram’s most-liked post ever.

Messi received more likes than Cristiano Ronaldo did in a Louis Vuitton advertisement that featured the two football players, which had 41.9 million likes.

After breaking the previous record set by a photo of an egg, the Instagram post from the World Cup has now received the most likes ever.

In an effort to surpass the previous most-liked Instagram post at the time, thus a picture of Kylie Jenner’s daughter with 18.6 million likes, Chris Godfrey published a photograph of an egg in January 2019. The picture ultimately received 56.1 million likes.

With more than 1.7 million likes, Davido’s Instagram post from Monday featuring his lover Chioma at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar has set a new record for the platform.
