“Dumsor will not return,” Akufo Addo says power supply challenges resolved

According to the president of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the recent power challenges in the country have been resolved.

Akufo-Addo made this assurance during his speech in Accra on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at the annual May Day celebration.

Expressing gratitude to the citizens for their patience and cooperation during the difficult times of power outages, he emphasized that “dumsor will not return” and is now a thing of the past.

Furthermore, Akufo-Addo noted that over the past few days, Ghanaians have experienced stable electricity across the country, with no power outages yesterday, indicating progress in resolving the issue of dumsor.

“I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Ghanaians for their patience and understanding during recent temporary challenges with electricity supply across the country.

“Over the period, the issues surrounding transformers and gas supply have been successfully resolved resulting in sufficient improvement in power supply reliability”.

“Indeed, over the past few days, we have witnessed stable electricity supply across the country with no load-shedding reported anywhere yesterday,” the president said.

“For the past seven years we have worked tirelessly to keep the lights on and I am confident that the unfortunate era of dumsor will not return,” he added.
