Hopeson Adorye vows to appeal to ex-President Mahama, citing his superior leadership

Hopeson Adorye, a former member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who is currently connected to the Movement for Change, announced on Accra FM that he intends to publicly apologise to former President John Dramani Mahama.

Adorye admitted that the campaign he joined that helped Mahama lose the 2016 election was mostly founded on untrue allegations. He plans to deliver this apology live on television.

Considering the situation under the NPP administration at the moment, he stated:

“As a human being, you need to speak up if you do something and later realise the goal is not achieved,” he said.

Adorye apologised for his part in damaging Mahama’s reputation in his remarks, stating, “I have said that one day, I will bend down on television and say Mahama, I am sorry. We destroyed him for nothing because of the things we claimed about him—that he was a thief and all—but, in comparison to today, Mahama was an angel.

Adorye upheld his integrity while distancing himself from any participation in illicit mining (galamsey) and other dubious ventures connected to certain NPP members.

In addition, he denied taking part in land-grabbing operations, especially in East Legon, where he asserts that many people risk jail time for land-related offences.

Adorye’s change of heart has also prompted him to declare that, upon a change in administration, he will launch a new organisation called the “Jail Them Advocacy Group,” with the goal of promoting the prosecution of dishonest officials working for the current administration.
