Tema-Mpakadan train will cost $2,138,466.86 to fix damage

Manufacturers of the Tema-Mpakadan train say It’ll cost $2,138,466.86 to fix the damage caused.

This was made known to the court by the prosecution in the Tema Mpakadan train accident. The amount of money mentioned above was according to him reached following an examination of the damage caused to the train conducted by the manufacturers of the train.

Recall that the train got to the Abotia area when it rammed into the Hyundai Gold truck which was stuck across the railway lines. Causing both the train and the truck to get damaged.

The train was sent to Tema for examination, while the scrap of the vehicle, which was damaged beyond repairs, was taken to the Juapong police station for further action.

The driver, Dzidotor Abel, was arrested and arraigned before the Circuit Court in Juapong, presided over by His Honour Proper Deu-love Gomashie, where he pleaded guilty to three out of four counts.

Abel was subsequently convicted and sentenced to six months of imprisonment.

According to Starrfm.com.gh, four more persons were arraigned at the High Court in Accra and remanded for abetment of unlawful damage over the train accident at Tema-Mpakadan.

The four are – Kokuo Koudjo, a gas wielder, Patrick Kwaku Sosu, Alaza Prosper, and Fiadugbe Emmanuel, a laborer were arraigned for abetting the accident.
