Sarah Boone, the woman accused of killing her boyfriend by zipping him inside a suitcase, took the stand in her trial this week, shedding light on the tragic events that unfolded in February 2020.
Boone’s boyfriend, Jorge Torres Jr., was found dead at the age of 42, and the case has drawn significant media attention.
During her testimony on October 22, Boone recalled how she and Torres were playing a game of hide-and-seek that evening.
She described hiding in the shower while waiting for him to find her.
When she eventually went downstairs, she saw Torres attempting to fit himself into a suitcase, jokingly trying to conceal himself.
“I zipped him up. We thought it was funny,” Boone said, explaining that they both laughed at the sight. She mentioned moving the suitcase around playfully, noting, “It was still funny that he was in there.”
However, Boone’s account took a darker turn when she claimed that Torres had been abusive in their relationship.

She recorded video footage while he was in the suitcase, capturing a moment where he called out her name. In the video, she made comments about his past behavior towards her.
As tensions escalated, Boone alleged that Torres threatened her and tried to push his way out of the suitcase.
In a panic, she claimed to have poked him with a baseball bat to keep him inside. “I felt safe enough to turn the suitcase back over,” she stated, insisting that she left enough room for him to escape.
The next day, Boone discovered Torres lifeless inside the suitcase.
A forensic pathologist later testified that he died from positional asphyxia, classifying the death as a homicide.
Boone, charged with second-degree murder, has pleaded not guilty.
