NFL Legend Tom Brady Admits Parenting Struggles: ‘I’ve Screwed Up a Lot’

NFL legend Tom Brady has candidly admitted to his parenting mistakes, acknowledging that he’s “screwed up a lot” in his role as a father.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion shared these reflections during a recent appearance at the 2024 Fortune Global Forum in New York City.

Brady, who has a 17-year-old son, Jack, with actress Bridget Moynahan, as well as two younger children, Benjamin and Vivian, with his ex-wife Gisele Bündchen, spoke openly about the challenges of parenthood. “Being a parent is probably the hardest job all of us have.

And we screw up a lot,” he said, addressing the audience at the prestigious event. “I’ve screwed up a lot as a parent,” he added, emphasizing his belief that he is far from an expert in raising children.

Despite his struggles, Brady expressed a strong desire to be a consistent and reliable figure for his kids. His goal, he said, is to be “dependable” and to provide unwavering support in everything they do.

“I don’t want to be the parent that tells my kids, ‘Don’t do that, it’s going to be too hard.’ Instead, I want to encourage them to pursue their passions—just as my parents did for me when I was a backup quarterback in high school,” Brady explained.

His remarks come just weeks after Gisele Bündchen, his ex-wife, revealed that she is expecting a child with her new boyfriend, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente.

Bündchen and Brady divorced in October 2022 after 13 years of marriage, and she began dating Valente shortly thereafter.

Brady’s comments shed light on his personal journey as a father while also acknowledging the difficulties of balancing family life with his high-profile career.

As the father of three, Brady remains dedicated to guiding his children with love and support, even as he navigates the complexities of his own life and relationships.
