Ghanaian actor and the newly elected member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Dumelo has been left in a state of mourning following the death of his dad.
This sad news was announced by the actor-cum-politician via his verified social media platforms on Saturday, January 4th, 2025.
The late John William Kudzo Anato-Dumelo Snr. died at age 75. This news comes less than 2 years after the actor lost his mother, Antoinette Ama Ampomah Dumelo, who passed away in August 2023.
John, who has just a few days to be sworn into Parliament to represent the people of Ayawaso West Wuogon after becoming victorious in the just-ended December 7th, 2024, general elections, shared with us the last minute interactions he had with his dad before his passing.
He recounted how his dad called him several times yesterday to remind him to come to see him so they could have some discussions regarding politics and business (including farming); little did he know those few hours were the last father-and-son moments they were going to spend together.
In his post, John wrote, “At age 75, you lived your life well. Yesterday you called me several times that I come see you. We sat on the bed and spoke at length about politics, life, farming, and business, and of course we gossiped.”
John Demelo continued, “We spoke about my swearing-in in 3 days time and you told me specifically to serve diligently in government. 10 minutes after I left your house, I was called that you were not being responsive. I came back, we rushed you to the hospital, and you were gone.”
The actor-turned-politician and farmer thanked his late dad, who he described as his best friend and number 1 cheerleader, for being his father and for all he has done for him.
“Thanks for being my father, thanks for being my best friend, thanks for being my number 1 cheer leader and thanks for everything you did for me. Say hi to mum for us all….we will miss you. Rest in perfect Peace Engineer John William Kudzo Anato-Dumelo Snr.” John ended his post.
Friends, fans, and well-wishers took over his post to share with him their messages of condolences during this hard time. Rest in peace, John Dumelo Snr.
