The British singer-songwriter, known for hits like Shape of You, was seen performing live on Church Street when a police officer stepped in and pulled the plug on his microphone within a minute of the performance.

A video of the incident quickly went viral, showing Sheeran setting up to perform one of his most popular tracks.

Crowds began to gather as he prepared to sing, but moments later, the performance was cut short by the police, who reportedly claimed that the event lacked the necessary permissions.

Despite the interruption, Sheeran took to Instagram to address the situation. In a story post, he explained that his team had received prior approval to perform in the location.

“We had permission to busk, by the way. Hence, us playing in that exact spot was planned out beforehand. It wasn’t just us randomly turning up.

All good though. See you at the show tonight x,” he wrote, reassuring fans that the situation was under control.

Local authorities, however, provided a different explanation, asserting that the performance had not been officially authorized.
