A shocking human egg harvesting operation has been uncovered in Georgia, where approximately 100 women were held captive as part of a sinister “egg farm” racket.
The operation, run by a Chinese criminal syndicate, was exposed after three Thai women were freed by an NGO based in Thailand, shedding light on the horrific practices involved.
The harrowing discovery was first brought to the attention of Pavena Hongsakula, the founder of the Pavena Foundation for Children and Women, by a victim who had been released after paying the gang a hefty sum of Rs 1.8 lakh.
The woman revealed that several other Thai women remained trapped, unable to pay the gang for their release.
The women had been lured to Georgia with promises of lucrative work, advertised on Facebook, offering high-paying jobs as surrogates for Georgian couples struggling to conceive.
The job advertisements promised salaries between Rs 10 lakh (11,500 euros) and Rs 15 lakh (17,000 euros).

The organization behind the ads handled the women’s passports and visas, but once they arrived in Georgia, they were quickly confined to four properties with approximately 100 other women.

What seemed like an opportunity quickly turned into a nightmare. The women were coerced into undergoing hormonal treatments to stimulate their ovaries and were forced to undergo monthly egg extractions.
One of the victims described the horrifying process, stating that they were injected with hormones, anesthetized, and their eggs were removed using machines.
The women soon realized they had been trapped in an illegal human trafficking scheme far more sinister than the job they had been promised.
The harvested eggs were reportedly trafficked for use in in-vitro fertilization (IVF) procedures in other countries. Thai authorities are continuing their investigation into the case.
Surapan Thaiprasert, a senior officer with the Foreign Affairs Division of the Royal Thai Police, confirmed that the authorities are working on bringing the criminals behind the operation to justice.
The case has raised alarming concerns about human trafficking and exploitation, highlighting the need for heightened awareness and protections for vulnerable individuals targeted by such illicit schemes.
