Beyoncé and Chloe Bailey are facing a high-stakes legal battle as Parkwood Entertainment, the label behind the singer’s successful career, is being sued for $15 million in a copyright infringement case.
The lawsuit, filed by artist Melvin Moore (known by his stage name, 4Rest), alleges that his original lyrics, melodies, and creative input were used without his permission on several tracks from Chloe Bailey’s debut album Trouble in Paradise, which was released in August.
Moore claims that the songs “Favorite,” “Might As Well,” and “Same Lingerie” were created with his significant contributions, yet were commercially released without his consent.
The lawsuit accuses the defendants of fraudulent misrepresentation, violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), and deceptive business practices.
Moore alleges that Chloe and her team ignored his cease-and-desist notice before promoting Same Lingerie on social media, where it garnered substantial attention.
In court documents, Moore explains that the song Same Lingerie was inspired by a personal relationship and was initially recorded as a demo.

He argues that despite his contributions, his work was misappropriated by Parkwood Entertainment, Columbia Records, Sony Music, and others involved in the release.

The 39-year-old artist is seeking damages of $5 million per song, in addition to statutory damages up to $150,000 per infringement, along with compensation for the alleged fraudulent actions and willful copyright infringement.
Moore also insists on a jury trial to address his claims of civil conspiracy.
Sources close to the situation told DailyMail that Beyoncé is “incensed” over the lawsuit.
“It’s a terrible look for everyone involved,” the source said, adding that communication between Chloe Bailey and Parkwood had begun to deteriorate in the weeks leading up to the lawsuit, leaving them worried about the damage to their reputations.
This legal dispute has quickly gained attention, reminding fans and artists alike of the importance of intellectual property rights in the music industry.
