A terrifying attack in the heart of New York City’s Times Square left a 45-year-old man with severe burns early Sunday morning, March 16.
The incident, which occurred just before 4 a.m. near W. 41st and Seventh Avenue, has left the victim fighting for his life as he recovers in the hospital.
Video footage from the scene captured the aftermath of the horrifying attack, showing the man writhing in pain and covered in burns, particularly across his face.
Emergency responders quickly arrived and extinguished the flames before transporting the victim to New York Presbyterian Cornell Hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
The shocking clip also shows the victim, shirtless and wrapped in a blue blanket, standing on the sidewalk surrounded by dozens of first responders.

Officers can be seen speaking with a woman, presumably the victim’s companion, who was dressed in a short dress and high heels, clearly shaken by the event.
Authorities believe the victim was deliberately set on fire, but no arrests have been made yet. The NYPD has not disclosed whether the attack was targeted or random, and they are still investigating the incident.
At this time, the suspect’s identity remains unknown, and police are actively following up on leads.
The brazen nature of the attack in one of New York City’s most iconic areas has left many in shock, as Times Square is typically known for its bustling crowds and bright lights, not violent acts.
Residents and visitors alike are left shaken as they await further details on what led to this horrific event.
