NYC Mom Charged for Helping Son and Ex Kill Boyfriend

A New York City mother has been charged with helping her son and ex-boyfriend kill her current boyfriend, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s office.

On December 14, 2024, a brutal crime unfolded in a Harlem apartment when 47-year-old Daniel Spencer and his son, 20-year-old Khaeir Spencer, allegedly entered the apartment of 43-year-old David Brown, the boyfriend of Tetikwa Horace, 42. Horace is the mother of Khaeir and the ex-girlfriend of Daniel.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s office announced on April 7 that Horace is facing charges for her role in the murder.

Authorities say that Horace allowed her son and ex to enter the apartment while wearing masks to conceal their identities. She also reportedly removed the surveillance camera outside the apartment as she left the scene.

Just minutes later, Khaeir and Daniel allegedly shot Brown three times in the torso and leg, leaving him fatally injured.

Horace, who was dating Brown at the time, is accused of aiding the perpetrators by obstructing justice. After the shooting, Khaeir and Daniel fled the scene, and Horace is believed to have helped her son escape the city.

Khaeir was later apprehended in Sullivan County in March 2025, and Daniel was arrested earlier in January. Horace was taken into custody on March 17 and faces charges of hindering prosecution and tampering with evidence.

Both Daniel and Khaeir have been charged with second-degree murder, while Horace faces accusations of tampering with evidence and hindering prosecution.

The case has left the community shocked, as one neighbor recalled how police canvassed the area following the incident. “We never had something like that happen on our floor. It was a big shock,” said the neighbor.
