President Mahama Announces Vice President Naana Jane’s Return After Full Recovery

In a recent update that has been warmly received by Ghanaians, President John Dramani Mahama shared uplifting news about Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang’s health during his ‘Thank You Tour’ in Dodowa, located in the Greater Accra Region.

Speaking on Friday, May 16, 2025, President Mahama confirmed that the Vice President is fully recovered from her recent illness and is set to return to Ghana within the coming week. He described her recovery as a blessing and expressed gratitude to God for her improved health.

“I’m happy to state that I spoke to her yesterday morning, and she will be back in the country before the end of next week. By God’s grace, she is fully recovered, and she’s going to come and go back to her duties,” President Mahama stated.

Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang was reported to have suddenly fallen ill on Friday, March 28, 2025. She sought immediate care the next day at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC), where she received medical attention.

Following doctors’ recommendations, the Vice President commenced a three-week medical leave starting April 7, 2025. During this period, she traveled abroad to undergo additional medical evaluations and treatment, ensuring a thorough recovery.

Her absence had sparked public concern, but this latest announcement has reassured citizens that she is in good health and prepared to return to active service.
