Kevin Spacey is expected to return to the U.K. legal spotlight next year as three additional civil claims accusing him of sexual assault move toward trial in London’s High Court.
During a hearing on Wednesday, the court outlined a provisional trial date of October 12, 2026, though judges have yet to determine whether the allegations will be heard together in a single proceeding or split into three separate trials. The claims were brought by three men who allege that Spacey assaulted them between 2000 and 2013.
The actor — who was acquitted in a high-profile 2023 U.K. criminal trial involving four other complainants — has denied all accusations. According to BBC News, he has formally disputed two of the three pending civil claims but has not yet filed a defense in the third.
One claimant, whose identity is protected by court order, had initially brought his case forward in 2022 before it was paused during the criminal proceedings. He alleges he “suffered psychiatric damage and other financial loss” as a result of an incident he says occurred in August 2008.
Another claimant, Ruari Cannon, chose to waive his anonymity and alleges he was groped at a 2013 party while Spacey was serving as artistic director at the Old Vic. Cannon also participated in the Channel 4 documentary “Spacey Unmasked.” In response to the series, Spacey said: “Each time I have been given the time and a proper forum to defend myself, the allegations have failed under scrutiny and I have been exonerated.”
Spacey has faced similar litigation in the United States. In 2022, he was sued in New York by actor Anthony Rapp, though a jury ultimately found him not liable.
