Sen. John Cornyn has opened the election year with a commanding financial advantage, raising more than $7 million during the final quarter of 2025 as he prepares for a high-stakes Texas Senate primary.

Cornyn’s campaign confirmed Monday that the fourth-quarter haul, collected between October and December, came through a mix of direct campaign contributions and two affiliated political groups. The fundraising surge leaves the senior Texas senator with more than $15 million cash on hand as he seeks a sixth term in the U.S. Senate.

“Senator Cornyn has never raised more in one fundraising quarter than he did in the fourth quarter of 2025,” Cornyn reelection campaign manager Andy Hemming said in a statement.

“Texans understand that President Trump’s legislative agenda and the Senate Republican majority are at risk unless Sen. Cornyn is the nominee. We are executing our plan to win this race, and we will win.”

Cornyn faces an unusually competitive Republican primary, with challenges from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and Rep. Wesley Hunt. Both rivals are expected to report their fourth-quarter fundraising totals by the end of the month, as required under federal campaign finance rules.

On the Democratic side, Rep. Jasmine Crockett and state Rep. James Talarico are competing for their party’s nomination. Talarico has already demonstrated notable fundraising strength, reporting a fourth-quarter total that came close to Cornyn’s $7 million figure, while Crockett has yet to release her numbers.
