St. John’s Grammar Senior High School has long enjoyed a reputation as a cradle of academic distinction and sporting excellence. On 3 November 2025, the Greater Accra–based institution added another exciting name to its growing roll of talent with the admission of promising young footballer Shepherd Abotar.

Shepherd’s enrollment was facilitated through the collaborative efforts of DelSul Sports Agency, its management team, and his supportive family. His arrival followed a major breakthrough in his budding career — a successful signing with Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club, where he was officially registered with the club’s Under-17 side, Royal Oak.

Even before settling fully into campus life, Shepherd’s reputation as a disciplined, technically gifted footballer preceded him. News of his affiliation with Hearts of Oak quickly filtered through the school, particularly within the sports department.

Sports masters from House One and House Three were swift to express strong interest in recruiting him, fully aware of the impact such a talent could have on upcoming inter-house and inter-school competitions.

The keen interest soon sparked healthy competition, underscoring both Shepherd’s rising profile and the school’s commitment to nurturing sporting talent. To ensure transparency and proper procedure, the school’s sports master, Mr. Eugene Marfo, intervened to oversee the process.

His timely involvement ensured that discussions were conducted professionally, with Shepherd’s welfare and long-term development placed firmly at the centre.

Following careful deliberations, House Three emerged successful in securing Shepherd Abotar. Their clear vision, confidence, and structured development plan proved decisive, paving the way for what promises to be an exciting chapter in the school’s sporting journey.

For St. John’s Grammar SHS, Shepherd’s admission goes beyond a routine student intake. It signals the arrival of a young athlete already showing strong signs of a future destined for greater heights.
