Ray J has delivered a stark and emotional health update, telling fans he believes he has only a limited amount of time left to live after suffering a serious medical crisis that left his heart severely weakened.

The 45-year-old singer and reality television star made the comments during a Jan. 27 Instagram livestream, weeks after being hospitalized for pneumonia. Speaking candidly, Ray J suggested he does not expect to still be alive in the coming years.

“2027 is definitely a wrap for me,” he said, gesturing toward his chest. “This is black. This is, like, done.”
The remarks followed earlier disclosures about the severity of his condition. In a Jan. 25 Instagram video, Ray J revealed that his heart is “only beating 25 percent,” though he emphasized that he was trying to remain hopeful and focused on recovery.

“As long as I stay focused and stay on the right path, everything will be all right,” he said at the time. “My health is not OK, so I thank everybody for supporting and praying for me through everything I’ve been in the hospital.”

During the livestream, Ray J reflected on the lifestyle choices he believes contributed to his decline, admitting that he underestimated the toll they would take on his body.

“I f–ked up,” he said. “I think I thought I had more weight. I thought I was big so I could handle all the alcohol, I could handle all the Adderall, I ccould handle all the drugs—but I couldn’t. It curved my time here.”

He went further, revealing the extent of his substance use prior to the hospitalization, saying he was drinking “like four or five bottles a day” and taking “10 Addys,” while convincing himself nothing could harm him.

“I’m like, ‘Ain’t nothing happening to me,’” he added. “I’m undestructible.”
Ray J also acknowledged that he “almost died” during the hospitalization, describing the experience as a turning point that forced him to confront the reality of his health.

Despite the grim outlook, the singer expressed deep gratitude for the support he has received from family and fans. He credited his parents, Sonja Norwood and Willie Norwood, as well as his sister, Grammy-winning singer Brandy, for stepping in during his recovery.

“My momma and my daddy coming to pick me up tomorrow and they’re gonna take me to the checkup,” he shared. “Shoutout to my momma and daddy, and shoutout to Brandy for looking out for me.”

He added, “My sister paid my bills for me for the rest of the year. That’s crazy.”

Ray J, who shares two children—Melody, 7, and Epik, 5—with ex-wife Princess Love, has become one of several high-profile entertainers in recent years to speak openly about life-threatening health scares, using his platform to warn others about the consequences of excess.
