Tottenham Hotspur have named Igor Tudor as their new head coach in a decisive move aimed at halting a dramatic slide in form that has left the club hovering near the relegation zone.

The 47-year-old arrives on a short-term deal running until the end of the season, replacing Thomas Frank, who was dismissed with Spurs sitting just five points above the drop after managing only two wins in 17 Premier League games. The appointment signals an urgent attempt by the north London club to restore structure and competitiveness during a critical phase of the campaign.

Tudor’s first assignment will immediately test his credentials. He takes charge for the north London derby against league leaders Arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Feb. 22 — a fixture loaded with pressure and significance for a side battling to steady itself.

In confirming the appointment, Tottenham’s official website outlined the Croatian’s brief in direct terms, stating that “his mandate is straightforward — bring organisation, intensity and competitive edge to the squad at a decisive stage of the campaign.”

Tudor acknowledged the scale of the task ahead. “It is an honour to join this club at an important moment.

“I understand the responsibility I have been handed and my focus is clear. To bring greater consistency to our performances and compete with conviction in every match.

“There is strong quality in this playing squad, and my job is to organise it, energise it and improve our results quickly.”

Sporting director Johan Lange echoed that urgency, framing the decision as a stabilizing measure. “Igor brings clarity, intensity and experience of stepping into challenging moments and producing impact.

“Our objective is straightforward — to stabilise performances, maximise the quality within the squad and compete strongly in the Premier League and Champions League.”

Tudor brings experience from previous spells at Juventus, Lazio, Marseille and Galatasaray, although he has never remained at a single club for more than two years. His career has been marked by short-term interventions, often stepping into demanding environments.

For Tottenham, the priority is immediate: arrest the decline, restore defensive solidity, and steer clear of a relegation battle in the Premier League while maintaining competitiveness in European competition. Whether Tudor’s high-intensity approach can generate quick results will define the closing months of Spurs’ season.
