British woman amasses largest collection of Tomb Raider games

A British gamer has turned a lifelong passion into global recognition after securing a Guinness World Record for owning the largest collection of Tomb Raider games ever recorded.

Amy Dyson now holds the title with an impressive 291 unique copies of the iconic gaming franchise. Her record comes as the series celebrates its 30th anniversary, marking a major milestone for one of the most influential video game brands in history.

The collection spans a wide range of editions, everything from rare special releases to multiple versions of the same title across different consoles and languages. It reflects years of dedication, careful tracking, and a deep emotional connection to the series.

Speaking to Guinness World Records, Dyson explained how her journey began early in childhood.

“I first started playing Tomb Raider round about age six, and it was just absolutely fascinating that there was a game that had a female protagonist and she was a strong character,” she said. “It was the puzzle solving and this divide between the type of games that my brother played and one that felt uniquely made for me.”

Her achievement surpasses the previous record set by Alejandro Cambronero Albaladejo, whose collection stood at 215 games back in 2017.

But for Dyson, the collection is more than just a record-breaking hobby. It plays a key role in managing her health. She lives with functional neurological disorder, a condition that can cause symptoms such as brain fog, tremors, ticks, and even temporary paralysis.

During difficult moments, she turns to the familiar world of Tomb Raider for relief.

“Tomb Raider always helps me escape. So, any time I’m having a tick attack or I don’t feel well and I have to take a day off work, I’ll immediately go back to Tomb Raider because it helps me refresh my brain,” she said. “It’s something I’m familiar with so it can just refunction the thought pattern.”

The Tomb Raider franchise, led by the iconic character Lara Croft, has long been praised for its strong storytelling and groundbreaking female lead. For Dyson, that representation and the immersive gameplay, has been a constant source of comfort and inspiration.
