A 65-year-old woman from Bay County has struck gold after years of unwavering commitment, winning a $1.1 million jackpot from the Michigan Lottery‘s Lotto 47 game.

Her win didn’t come from luck alone. It came from decades of consistency.

The longtime player revealed she had been participating in Lotto 47 since the game first launched, never missing a single draw. For years, her routine stayed the same, buy tickets every Wednesday and Saturday without fail.

“I started playing Lotto 47 decades ago when it began and have continued to play every Wednesday and Saturday since,” the player told Michigan Lottery officials.

That steady habit finally paid off during the March 21 drawing. She purchased the winning ticket at Beson’s Supermarket, a local store that unknowingly sold a life-changing ticket.

At first, she had no idea she was the winner.

“I was watching TV one night when I got a text from my neighbor telling me Beson’s had sold a jackpot winning Lotto 47 ticket. I thought to myself it was cool they had sold a big winner, but it never crossed my mind that it could be me,” the player said.

Moments later, curiosity turned into disbelief.

Her ticket, with the numbers 04-18-20-26-27-31, matched perfectly securing the $1.1 million prize.

“After my show ended, I checked my ticket and went absolutely crazy when I found out I was the winner! I called a few family members and my neighbor to tell them the big news. Winning is such a blessing. I feel like I can breathe again,” she said.

The emotional reaction highlights just how much the win meant after years of dedication. For her, this wasn’t just about money, it was relief.

The lucky player recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim the big prize. She chose to receive her winnings as a one-time lump sum payment of about $762,000 rather than annuity payments for the full amount. She intends to place the winnings into savings, focusing on long-term security rather than immediate spending.

Each Lotto 47 play is only $1. Players select six numbers from one to 47 for a chance to win a jackpot starting at $1 million and that grows until someone wins it.

For an additional $1 per play, Double Play may be added to a Lotto 47 ticket, giving players a second chance to win up to $1.5 million in the nightly Double Play drawing. For an additional $1 per game, players may add EZMatch to their ticket for a chance to win up to $500 instantly.
