LAGOS, Nigeria — Former Big Brother Naija star Segun “Sheggz” Olusemo has publicly confirmed his split from long-time partner Bella Okagbue, revealing he bought a proposal ring before trust collapsed between them.
The reality TV star broke his silence to defend his character and shut down cheating rumors following months of online speculation about the couple. Sheggz confirmed he has been single since January 2026. He stated that he decided to speak out to protect his reputation and clear his name.
His statement comes after a grueling health battle in 2025 that kept him in and out of hospitals in England. Upon his return to Nigeria in October 2025, Sheggz learned information that made him question the honesty in the relationship.
”I am a brother, a friend to many, and most importantly, I know the values I stand for. I am not an abuser,” Sheggz said. “For clarity, I did not cheat on Bella, and I have been single since January 2026.”
Sheggz explained that he tried to address his concerns long before the final split.
”Much of 2025 was an extremely difficult period for me as I spent a significant amount of time in and out of hospital. I am genuinely grateful to be alive after everything I experienced. Following treatment and recovery in England, I returned to Nigeria in October 2025, where I became aware of information that caused me to question the honesty within our relationship. I had given several opportunities since 2024 for the truth to be shared with me, but unfortunately, that did not happen.”
Marriage Plans and Broken Trust
The reality star was ready to take the ultimate step in their relationship before things fell apart. He admitted that he loved Bella deeply and wanted to build a life with her.
”I genuinely wanted the relationship to work. I even went as far as purchasing a ring because I believed in the possibility of a future together.”
Though both attempted to reconcile after January, Sheggz realized the foundation for marriage was gone. He noted that the lack of remorse and understanding made it impossible to rebuild trust and respect.
Sheggz stressed that he holds respect for Bella’s family and has no plans to engage in a public feud. Bella Okagbue has not issued a public response to his statement.
