Former Liverpool Footballer Sentenced To Prison For Defrauding Thierry Henry’s Ex-Wife in A £170,000 Swindle.

A former Liverpool and Derby County footballer has been sentenced to prison after stealing over £170,000 from a number of people, including Thierry Henry’s ex-wife.

After claiming to be a US Navy Seal, Medi Abalimba, 32, defrauded his then-girlfriend Claire Henry to pay for a five-star hotel stay and dental procedures.

The former midfielder purported to be a Navy Seal named Miguel Johnson and used a false American accent during their connection, according to a court hearing.

After being freed from prison for a similar offence involving reality actress Georgia Steel, best known for her involvement on Love Island in 2018, the former footballer, who previously played for Southend United, was on licence at the time of the scams.

Abalimba was sentenced to 23 months in prison in March last year for using Ms Steel’s credit card to pay for restaurants and fancy clothing.
