Actor Ezra Miller gets fine, probation after home break-in

Townflex Entertainment NewsActor Ezra Miller pleaded guilty Friday to a misdemeanor coming from a break-in and theft of alcohol at a neighbor’s home in Vermont, one of a run of arrests and reports of erratic behavior from Hawaii to New England last year.

Miller, who has appeared in several “Justice League” films and will appear in the upcoming film “The Flash,” agreed that by entering the plea and complying with the conditions, they would avoid a three-month jail sentence for a misdemeanor charge of unlawful trespass, but would pay a $500 fine and a court fee, receive a year of probation, and comply with a number of conditions, including continued mental health treatment.

Two additional counts were dropped, including a felony burglary allegation that could have resulted in a 25-year jail sentence, but Vermont Superior Court Judge Kerry Ann McDonald-Cady warned Miller that the felony charge might be re-filed if they did not follow the terms of their probation.

Miller, 30, answered the judge’s inquiries but declined to make a statement during the approximately 30-minute session in Bennington. However, following the hearing, Miller’s attorney, Lisa Shelkrot, issued a statement on his behalf.

“Ezra would like to thank the court and the community for their trust and patience throughout this process, and would once again like to acknowledge the love and support they have received from their family and friends, who continue to be a vital presence in their ongoing mental health,” the statement said.

Miller pleaded not guilty to stealing booze from a neighbor’s home in Vermont in October. On May 1, state police responded to a burglary complaint in Stamford and discovered numerous bottles of alcohol had been stolen while the homeowner was abroad.

According to the police affidavit, the homeowner said he had been acquainted with Miller for nearly 18 years and bought the home a year and a half ago in Stamford, where Miller also had a residence. Miller was charged after officers reviewed security video and interviewed witnesses.

Miller was detained twice in Hawaii last year, once for disorderly conduct and harassment at a karaoke bar.
