The hefty sum, which reportedly matches the couple’s combined net worth, has raised eyebrows, with insiders suggesting Baldoni’s intentions are linked to a desire to bankrupt the celebrity pair.

The drama started in December when Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment.

Baldoni has consistently denied the allegations, but things escalated when the It Ends With Us actress filed a lawsuit, claiming that Baldoni orchestrated a smear campaign against her.

At the same time, the New York Times published a story based on her legal filing, which included accusations of misconduct.

In retaliation, Baldoni filed a lawsuit against the newspaper for defamation before turning his attention to Lively and Reynolds.

His $400 million claim alleges that the couple conspired to tarnish his reputation with false allegations.

Baldoni also accused Lively of taking control of the It Ends With Us film production and claimed that she had forced him and his family to wait in a basement during the movie’s premiere to avoid seeing him.

Sources close to Baldoni have suggested that the $400 million figure was chosen because it aligns with the couple’s combined net worth, which is believed to be around $380 million.

The source explained that Baldoni’s lawsuit is rooted in the fact that he has already suffered substantial professional setbacks, including losing his podcast and being dropped by his agent.

People close to Baldoni are reportedly furious with Lively and Reynolds, believing their actions could leave him penniless if they succeed in their legal battle.

“He’s already lost everything,” a source said.
