Angola Delays Opening of $5 Billion Airport for the Fourth Time [Details]

The excitement and jubilations Angolans have been in anticipating for will have to be put on hold as the authories have decided to delay the opening of the new $5 Billion Airport and scheduled it for later time.

Per information gathered, the opening has been delayed once again and will be read for opening coming next year, at the end of 2023.

This happens to be the fourth time the project is being postponed.

Construction for the Dr Antonio Agostinho Neto airport which is however named after Angola’s first President started at about 13 years ago.

It has been delayed several times over the year to fix engineering faults, and this time happens to be the fourth time it has been postponed.

Mr Ricardo Viegas d’Abreu , who is the transport Minister in an interaction with reporters in Luanda, the capital, during an event to test one of the runways assured the public that the Airport will be completed, and available for public use at the end of 2023.

The estimated cost of the Dr Antonio Agostinho Neto airport, named after the country’s first president, is $5 billion and it will be able to handle 15 million passengers a year – according to Bloomberg.
