“Antony is edging closer to #MUFC as Erik ten Hag’s fourth signing

The Brazilian and Ajax winger Antony is said to be edging closer to a move to Old Trafford as United prepare to add a new forward to their frontline ahead of the start of the new 2022/23 Premier League season.

The Brazil international has been on Erik ten Hag’s radar since taking charge as United boss, the Red Devils are hoping they can make the 22-year-old their fourth signing of the summer regardless of Cristiano Ronaldo’s future.

Ajax have been reluctant to lose another key player after the departures of first team stars like Ryan Gravenberch, Noussair Mazraoui and Lisandro Martinez who has already joined Manchester United.

The Samba star who has eight goals and four assists from 23 Eredivisie matches last term is viewed as an important player United do not want to give up on after losing Edinson Cavani, Mason Greenwood who may never play for the club again and uncertainty surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo’s future.

Antony is open to a move to Old Trafford and his representatives are said to be pushing a move for his client this summer as United prepare to return to Ajax with a new bid for the Brazilian.

According to report from Amsterdam, Erik Ten Hag and United are leading the race to sign the player amid interest from Liverpool and other European clubs.

According to a new report from Forbes journalist Sam Pilger, Antony is now said to be edging closer to a move to Old Trafford this summer.He said on Twitter:

“Antony is edging closer to #MUFC.

“There is an understanding Ajax are now willing to lower their initially unreasonable asking price and do a deal.

“United about to go back with another bid.”

Ajax technical manager Gerry Hamstra speaking to Voetbal International said:

“We want to keep this group together. I assume that no-one leaves this core anymore.

“Of course, you can never say never and I have learned that by now. But we also talk about it with the players and have conversations, also boys who may have a wish to leave. Ajax players are drawn, that is logical.”
