Ghana’s leading music distribution and rights-management platform, Apprise Music, is making bold moves across the continent—and its latest stop was Lagos, Nigeria. The trip marked a significant moment not just for the company, but also for one of its rising stars, Grace Nyele Mensah, who’s fresh off completing her MBA Africa program and is already translating that knowledge into real industry impact.

From graduation to global conversations

Grace Nyele’s visit was more than a celebration—it was a statement. Her recent graduation from the Music Business Academy for Africa (MBA Africa), now transitioning into the Creative Business Academy, highlights her ongoing mission to champion structured publishing, artist rights, and metadata reforms in Africa’s music ecosystem.

Grace Nyele is no stranger to international strategy

She’s already proven herself a force in the publishing space. From being selected for the Soundscape Publishing Programme (a Ghana–France copyright collaboration) to officially representing Ghana at the MaMA Music Convention & Festival in Paris, Grace has consistently pushed Ghana’s presence on the global publishing map. There, she engaged top players like SACEM and CARO.B Music Publishing, helping shape conversations around metadata and rights protection.

Pushing artist rights forward

At Apprise, Grace plays a central role in strategy and publishing. She’s worked with iconic Ghanaian labels such as Big Ben Music Production, Eazyway Music Production, and Agya Paye Records, handling rights and digital operations for beloved artists including Joyce Blessing, Amakye Dede, and Noble Nketsiah.

She’s also a passionate educator, leading workshops at the University of Education, Winneba and delivering key music business insights through Apprise’s industry training sessions.

Lagos meetings that matter

Joined by Apprise’s Media & Communications Lead Philip NeeWhang, the team met with Sony Music Publishing and the Creative Industries Initiative for Africa (CIIFA) during their time in Nigeria. The conversations focused on critical topics like digital music policy, synchronization opportunities, and the growing need for reliable metadata systems to support fair artist payments and credits.

Apprise Music: building more than a platform

From distribution to education, Apprise Music has grown into a powerful, full-service force. Its services now include AI-powered metadata tools, rights management, production support, marketing, and real-time analytics dashboards. But at the heart of it all is a mission that goes beyond streaming numbers—to help build a sustainable, transparent music industry for Africa.

Grace’s Lagos trip reflects that bigger vision: investing in people, strengthening networks, and laying the groundwork for a better creative future across the continent.
