Ariana Grande Intro (End Of The World) Lyrics
Uh
How can I tell if I’m in the right relationship?
Aren’t you really supposed to know that shit?
Feel it in your bones and own that shit
I don’t know
Then I had this interaction I’ve been thinking ’bout for like five weeks
Wonder if he’s thinking ’bout it too and smiling
Wonder if he knows that that’s been what’s inspiring me
Wonder if he’s judging me like I am right now
I don’t care
I’d rather tell the truth (truth)
Than make it worse for you, mmm (you)
If the sun refused to shine
Baby, would I still be your lover?
Would you want me there?
If the moon went dark tonight
And if it all ended tomorrow
Would I be the one on your mind, your mind, your mind?
And if it all ended tomorrow
Would you be the one on mine?

Meaning Of The Song
Ariana Grande’s “Intro (End of the World)” is the first track on her album Eternal Sunshine. It’s super short—only about a minute and thirty seconds—but it sets up the whole vibe of the album. Musically, it’s a really pretty, chill R&B track with soft guitars and lots of layered vocals, which makes it feel like you’re listening to her inside-thoughts.
The whole song is basically Ariana having an existential crisis about her marriage. She starts off by asking a really heavy question: “How can I tell if I’m in the right relationship?” She mentions how everyone always says that when you find “the one,” you just “feel it in your bones.” But the problem is, she doesn’t feel that certainty at all. She’s completely confused.
Things get even messier in the middle of the song. She admits she’s been thinking about someone else for five weeks straight. You can feel the guilt there, because she’s wondering if this other person is thinking about her too, or if she’s just going crazy.
The most important part of the lyrics is when she uses the idea of the world ending to test her relationship. She asks: “If the sun refused to shine… and if it all ended tomorrow, would I be the one on your mind?”
Basically, she’s realizing that if everything was crashing down, she and her partner wouldn’t actually be each other’s main priority anymore. It’s a pretty sad realization. Instead of just a typical breakup song, it’s about that lonely feeling you get when you realize you’ve grown apart from someone you used to love.
