An 8-year-old boy tragically lost his life last week after a large statue fell on him at a luxury Phoenix resort, the Arizona Biltmore.
The incident occurred on November 27, when one of the resort’s outdoor statues toppled over, striking the child and causing a severe head injury.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene around 8:45 a.m., finding the young boy in critical condition. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital but, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries the following day.
Police have not released the child’s name and have confirmed that there are no signs of foul play.
The Phoenix Police Department has called the incident a “tragic accident” and is currently investigating the circumstances behind the statue’s fall.
The Arizona Biltmore, a historic resort known for its unique architecture and artistry, expressed deep sorrow over the boy’s death.

A spokesperson for the resort extended heartfelt condolences to the family and emphasized their commitment to safety.
“We wish them peace and respect their right to privacy during this difficult time,” they said in a statement.
The statue involved in the accident was one of 19 “solemn sprite” statues, originally designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright and artist Alfonso Ianelli in 1914.
These concrete sculptures were gifted to the Arizona Biltmore in 1985.
They are known for their representation of mythological figures symbolizing the elements of nature.
Video footage from the scene showed broken pieces of the fallen statue scattered across the lawn outside the resort. Investigators are still working to determine why the statue fell and how the child was struck.
This heartbreaking incident has left the local community and the resort in shock, as authorities continue their investigation into what led to this tragic event.
