The FA has charged Arsenal Football Club for failing to conduct their players in an orderly manner during their recent game against Oxford United.
Arsenal’s FA Cup match against Oxford on Monday, January 9th concluded in a 3-0 victory for Arteta’s team.
The alleged event that resulted in the accusation occurred in the 34th minute of Arsenal’s FA Cup third-round match, when the players pleaded for a penalty.
The allegation stems from a handball appeal after Oxford defender Elliott Moore blocked Eddie Nketiah’s shot inside the penalty area. Arsenal players and fans yelled as the strike appeared to make contact with the 25-year old’s arms.
Arsenal’s players were sure that they should have been awarded a penalty when the ball struck Elliott Moore’s arm inside the area surrounded the referee to register their displeasure, but their pleas were dismissed by referee David Coote, and there was no VAR made available for the match to interfere.
According to the Fa in their released statement, Arsenal have violated their RUle E2o.1, and have given the club up to January 16 to respond
A statement from the FA published on Thursday read:
“Regulation and Discipline update: Arsenal FC has been charged with breaching FA Rule E20.1 during its tie against Oxford United FC in The FA Cup on Monday 9 January 2023.
“It’s alleged that Arsenal FC failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 34th minute, and the club has until Monday 16 January 2023 to respond.”
