Mikel Arteta, a former City coach, is in charge of Arsenal, who are currently in first place with 27 points out of a possible 30 thus far this season. City is four points behind right now.

Gabriel Jesus
Gabriel Jesus has been a great addition to the Gunners and can’t wait to face his former side at Emirates.

City and the Gunners will now have to wait for that game of the season candidate instead of squaring off in a tantalizing confrontation in the upcoming days.

Why was the Arsenal-Man City matchup postponed?

The following Premier League matchday was postponed due to the Queen’s death last month, and Arsenal’s continued quest for the Europa League was also disrupted. Due to UEFA rules, their match against PSV was actually postponed and had to be accommodated as a priority.

When policing issues compelled them to postpone the initial date (September 15), Arsenal ran the risk of losing points under the condition that they could not quickly reschedule the match.

A statement from the Premier League:

“The Premier League has agreed with UEFA to postpone Arsenal FC’s Premier League match with Manchester City FC, originally due to be played on 19 October, to allow for Arsenal FC’s re-arranged UEFA Europa League game with PSV Eindhoven.”

“Arsenal FC v PSV Eindhoven, originally scheduled to be played on Thursday 15 September, will now be played on Thursday 20 October 18:00 (UK).”

When is the Man City-Arsenal matchup scheduled?

Here are where things could get complicated. The Premier League will announce a new date soon, but reports suggest that they could squeeze the big fixture towards the end of the year once the World Cup has concluded.
