In a live TikTok broadcast, Gyan dismissed the idea, stating that a 24-hour economy has already been in practice in Ghana for many years, pointing out sectors like healthcare, filling stations, and various other services that operate around the clock.

“Ghana already has a 24-hour economy. Nurses, filling stations, and many other professions work 24/7. If the NDC claims to introduce a 24-hour economy as a new policy, then it’s a lie,” Gyan declared during his live broadcast.

His comments come in response to Mahama’s recent public announcement about implementing a 24-hour economy if he were to win the 2024 presidential election.

Gyan, who has been vocal on political matters in the past, also addressed the recent fire that devastated the Kantamanto market in Accra.

He suggested that the fire could be linked to a power struggle between political parties, namely the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The fire, which caused significant damage, has raised concerns about its potential political motives.

“This market fire could be a result of a power struggle between the NDC and NPP. We need to look deeper into this,” Gyan added, urging authorities to investigate the cause of the fire.

Gyan’s statements have sparked a mix of reactions across the political landscape, with supporters of Mahama and the NDC refuting his claims, while others agree with his view that the 24-hour economy is already a reality in Ghana.

As the debate continues, many Ghanaians remain skeptical of political promises, demanding tangible solutions to the country’s pressing issues.
