Asiedu Nketia appointed by Speaker to serve on Parliamentary Board

Asiedu Nketiah named as member of Parliamentary Service Board

Ghana’s Speaker of Parliament, Alban S.K. Bagbin has appointed the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia to serve on the Parliamentary Service Board (PSB).

The Parliamentary Service Board composed of The Speaker of Parliament and other four members with the Speaker of Parliament as the Chairman, acting in accordance with the advice of a Committee of Parliament; and the Clerk of Parliament.

The speaker of the house, Alban Bagbin who happens to be the chairperson of the five-member board made the announcement of appointing NDC’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia on Monday, March 29, 2021.

Other members of the board are Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu who is the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Leader of Government Business in Parliament, the Minority Leader, Mr. Haruna Iddrisu and Mr. Abraham Osei Aidoo, who is a former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament and former Majority Leader.

The Speaker thanked the committee for its advice and assured that he would proceed to appoint the persons named as members of the PSB.

The Board has the responsibility of promoting the welfare of Members of Parliament and Staff of the Service. It also has general control of the management of the Service in matters of policy. The Speaker has ultimate responsibility for the Service.
