Wunmi Aloba, the widow of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has addressed controversial claims made by her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, regarding her fidelity during her marriage.
These claims, which have sparked public debate, involve Joseph allegedly insisting on a DNA test for his grandchild, questioning the paternity of the child because of accusations that Wunmi was unfaithful while Mohbad was alive.
Speaking on TVC on February 21, Wunmi clarified her position on the matter. She revealed that Joseph had previously appeared on the same network, where he was asked why he was demanding a DNA test.
His response, she said, was rooted in accusations that Mohbad doubted the paternity of their child due to Wunmi’s alleged infidelity.
Wunmi explained that while her father-in-law legally does not have the right to request a DNA test, she has nothing to hide.
The issue, she said, is not the DNA test itself but the manner in which Joseph has approached the situation. She shared that initially, when the DNA matter was raised, Joseph did not discuss it directly but instead shifted the conversation to unrelated topics.

However, in subsequent interviews, Joseph changed his narrative, stating that Nigerians wanted the test, and later claimed that a friend of Mohbad had suggested that the singer and Wunmi had only slept together once, casting doubt on the pregnancy.
Wunmi also expressed her shock, revealing that Joseph had previously encouraged her and Mohbad to marry and start a family.
She recalled how he took them to various places for prayers and even provided substances to help her conceive, which made the paternity doubts all the more confusing for her.
Although Wunmi stated she has no objection to a DNA test, she made it clear that she wants the freedom to conduct the test on her own terms.
She believes that her father-in-law’s insistence on the DNA test is meant to be a final judgment, something she firmly disagrees with.
