Before facing Inter in the Champions League, Atletico Madrid proved they were back to their best, defeating Las Palmas by five goals.

To get back on track in La Liga, Atletico Madrid beat Las Palmas 5-0 at home, with goals from Marcos Llorente and Angel Correa.

Early on, Javi Munoz gave the visitors a goal through the woodwork, but Llorente’s double in five minutes gave Diego Simeone’s team the lead after 20 minutes.

Correa’s goal just 73 seconds into the second half gave Atletico the perfect start to their Champions League last-16 first leg against Inter. Just after the hour, he doubled his tally from the penalty spot. Memphis Depay, a substitute, added the cherry on top with a late, long-range shot.

The hosts lost their away game against Las Palmas in November and were defeated by Sevilla in their most recent league game; however, they have now won four straight at home, tying with Barcelona, who play Celta Vigo later on Saturday, and five points ahead of fifth-place Athletic Bilbao.

Data Recap: Home dominance remains

With 12 victories and 1 tie from their 13 league games played at home this season in front of their own supporters, Atletico is undefeated in La Liga. Going farther back, they have already played 24 of these games since January 2023 without losing.

Correa, who also contributed an assist, had not scored in almost two months before this match, while Llorente’s double was his first since he scored twice in a match against Eibar in April 2021. Atleti earned a respectable victory with 2.29 xG compared to 0.59 for Las Palmas.
