Controversial attorney Tony Buzbee has fiercely responded to rapper Jay-Z’s allegations of blackmail following the high-profile rape lawsuit filed against him and music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.
The lawsuit, filed by Buzbee, accuses both men of raping a 13-year-old girl at an MTV VMAs afterparty in 2000. Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Corey Carter, has strongly denied the allegations and claimed that Buzbee is attempting to extort him.
In a statement, Jay-Z’s legal team labeled the lawsuit as an attempt to “blackmail” the rapper, vowing to fight the accusations in court.
However, Buzbee quickly fired back on social media, rejecting the claim and revealing that his firm had never sought financial compensation on behalf of the alleged victim.
Instead, he said, the victim only sought a confidential mediation.
Buzbee tweeted on Sunday that after sending a demand letter on behalf of his client, Jay-Z had retaliated by suing him and attempting to bully both him and the plaintiff.

“Mr. Carter has not only sued me, but he has tried to bully and harass me and this plaintiff,” Buzbee wrote. He also accused Jay-Z of attempting to obscure his identity by filing a lawsuit under a pseudonym.
Addressing Jay-Z’s response, Buzbee stated that the rapper’s actions had only strengthened his client’s resolve to pursue the case.
“The lawsuit had the opposite impact,” he claimed, “emboldening her resolve.”
Buzbee concluded by asserting that the details of the case would be handled in court, not in the media, urging all parties to focus on the facts.
This bombshell lawsuit has added fuel to a growing fire, as the details of the case continue to unfold.
