Barcelona beat Real Madrid 5-2 to win their 15th Spanish Super Cup! The game took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Real Madrid started strong at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium and scored in the 5th minute with a goal from Kylian Mbappe. But Barcelona didn’t give up! In the first half, they scored four goals. Lamine Yamal scored in the 22nd minute, Robert Lewandowski got a penalty goal in the 36th minute, Raphinha scored in the 39th minute, and Alejandro Balde scored just before halftime.
After the break, Raphinha scored again in the 48th minute to make it 5-1. Barcelona’s goalkeeper, Wojciech Szczesny, got a red card in the 56th minute, so they had to play with one less player. Real Madrid scored another goal with a free kick from Rodrygo in the 60th minute, but it wasn’t enough.
This was Barcelona’s third win in a row in 2025. Real Madrid, who had been won five games on a row finally lost one.

Real Madrid’s coach, Carlo Ancelotti, was very sad and disappointed after the big loss to Barcelona. He said that Kylian Mbappe was the only Real Madrid player who played well and deserved credit for his performance.

Madrid’s coach, Carlo Ancelotti, said it was a tough night, but they’ll learn from it and keep moving forward.
“We have to be honest. We didn’t defend well,” Ancelotti said in his press conference. “We tried to press high and defend deep, but they scored too easily. We didn’t work hard enough, either as a team or as individuals. We lost too many battles on the field. That makes us sad and disappointed, but that’s football. We’ll take this feeling home and try to do better next time.”
When asked if he was unhappy with specific players, Ancelotti replied, “I won’t single anyone out. This was about the whole team. We didn’t defend well or stay compact, and even when we had an extra player after their red card, we couldn’t take advantage. That’s disappointing, but the whole game was tough to watch.”
He praised Mbappe, though, saying, “Mbappe played very well and scored a fantastic goal. He was the bright spot in an otherwise difficult match. The rest, we need to forget and move forward.”
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick was full of praise for his team after their amazing performance in the Spanish Super Cup final in Saudi Arabia.
“I’m really proud,” said Flick, who used to coach Bayern Munich. “Proud of the team, the staff, the club, and the fans—everyone. Today was an unbelievable match. Maybe not so much for the coaches because it was intense, but for the fans, it was fantastic to watch.”
Raphinha, also shared his excitement. “We know what we have to do on the pitch,” he said. “We believe in the boss, and the boss believes in us. The important thing is that we can fight for titles—and win them.”
