World Cup winner and Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe has been Real Madrid’s number one target for over a year now, Los Blancos are set to face competition to secure his signature at the end of the season.

Report from French publication L’Equipe is claiming Barcelona are set to rival La Liga leaders Real Madrid in pursuit of PSG star Kylian Mbappe in the summer.

The 23-year-old Ballon d’Or winner in waiting is in the final season of his contract at PSG and he is set to depart on a Bosman deal at the end of the season to La Liga leaders Real Madrid.

It has been believed all this while that the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner is heading to Real Madrid only to face stiff competition from their fierce rivals Barcelona and will have to fend off interest if they are to sign the in the summer.

The French forward who is set to leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season when his deal expires had previously rejected two bids from Real Madrid. It was later believed that Los Blancos had an agreement in place to secure Mbappe’s signature.

However, as per the aforementioned report, Barcelona now plotting to intercept Real Madrid’s deal after their efforts seem set to miss out on Erling Haaland signature with Manchester City emerging as favourites to sign him to sign the Norwegian.

The Blaugrana have now diverted their attention to the World Cup winner’s availability after his contract expires this summer and feels a deal will be less cheaper than that of Erling Haaland.

The Catalan giants are confident of putting together a lucrative and an attractive package for the 23 year old knowing he has not decided on his future and is willing to listen to any potential offers from Barcelona before he makes a decision as he wishes to join the best sporting project.

Mbappe has previously made it clear that his future club is not a foregone conclusion, and his willingness to speak with Camp Nou side provides evidence that Ballon d’Or winner in waiting is still undecided.

The Blaugrana want the French forward to meet manager Xavi Hernandez before he decides on his future. The former Barca midfielder has done a fine job after taking over the reins at Camp Nou, Mbappe will be a great addition if he is able to convince the French international to sign for the Catalans over Real Madrid.

Despite all this news, Los Blancos are keen to build a young, energetic side that can become a super force in Europe once again with Frederico Valverde, Vinicius Junior and Eduardo Camavinga with Mbappe, the club will have a core group of top-quality players and world-class players.
