Barcelona striker Sergio Aguero set to retire due to heart condition

Sergio Kun Aguero is set to announce his retirement from football in a ‘special ceremony on Wednesday after struggling with heart problems.

The rumours about his imminent retirement have been circulating in the media since he came off in his first match for Barcelona.

Aguero was diagnosed with a heart arrhythmia since he was brought off after 41 minutes of his first start for the club against Alavés after suffering from chest pains.

He became fourth-highest goalscorer in Premier League history after moving to Man City from Atletico Madrid in 2011.

The Argentine lifted five Premier League titles, one FA Cup and six League Cups during his stay at the Etihad Stadium.

Aguero joined Blaugrana in the summer on a free transfer from Manchester City, where he had scored 184 goals in 275 Premier League appearances to become the club’s all-time top scorer.

The Argentine striker made only five appearances for Barcelona, scoring once in a 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid.

The Argentine in November said he was remaining positive and making progress with his recovery after reports of him retiring from football.
