Darmstadt was defeated 2-0 by Xabi Alonso’s team thanks to two goals from Nathan Tella.

England captain Harry Kane is already the record holder for having scored 20 goals in the fewest Bundesliga games—just 14—and he keeps exceeding expectations in Germany.

The 30-year-old Kane tied the record for the most goals after 20 games of a Bundesliga season with his header finish following a shoddy clearance by Gladbach keeper Moritz Nicolas. With 24 goals overall, he is tied with two former Bayern strikers, Gerd Muller in 1969–70 and Robert Lewandowski in 2020–21.

Kane’s main goal this season will be to win his first major trophy of his career, but he also has a good chance of breaking several long-standing individual records.

Kane needs six more goals to tie Uwe Seeler’s record of 30 goals for Hamburg in 1963–64, which was set during his debut Bundesliga season.

He needs to score 15 more goals to tie Tony Woodcock, the all-time top English goal scorer in the Bundesliga, who scored 39 goals for Cologne in two stints between 1979 and 1988.

It’s also not completely out of the possibility that Kane breaks Erling Haaland’s record of needing the fewest games to score 50 goals in the Bundesliga this season, as he did in 50 games.

But in order to set an individual record for the most goals for Bayern in a season, Kane would need to step it up significantly. In 1972–73, Gerd Muller scored 66 runs.
