Jamie Lee Komoroski, 26, pleaded guilty on December 2, 2024, to four charges stemming from the tragic April 2023 incident that took the life of Samantha Miller, 34, on Folly Beach, South Carolina.

Komoroski was behind the wheel of her car, which struck a golf cart carrying Miller and her new husband, Aric Hutchinson.

Miller died at the scene from blunt force injuries, while Hutchinson suffered severe injuries, including broken bones and brain trauma.

Two other passengers in the golf cart survived the crash. A toxicology report revealed that Komoroski’s blood alcohol content was three times the legal limit at the time of the crash.

Additionally, she was driving 65 mph in a 25-mph zone when the collision occurred.

Komoroski pleaded guilty to DUI causing death, DUI causing great bodily injury, reckless homicide, and other charges. After her plea, she was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

The tragic crash led to a $1.3 million settlement for Miller’s family in June, but for them, no amount of money can ease the pain of their loss.

As Miller’s mother said in court on Monday, “She doesn’t get to come back to life in ten years, twenty-five years. This is a lifetime.”
