Edward Pettifer, a 31-year-old British national, was among the 14 victims killed in the New Year’s Day terror attack in New Orleans.
He has been identified as the stepson of Tiggy Legge-Bourke, the former nanny to Prince William and Prince Harry.
The devastating attack occurred when Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, drove a pickup truck into revelers in the French Quarter.
Pettifer, who had been visiting Louisiana with a friend, tragically died from blunt force injuries. Jabbar was killed following a firefight with police.
Pettifer’s family expressed deep sorrow at the loss, remembering him as a “wonderful son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend” and saying they would miss him terribly.
They also sent their thoughts to the other victims’ families affected by the attack.
In addition to his connection to Tiggy Legge-Bourke, Pettifer’s family history also includes ties to the Royal Family.

His mother, Camilla Wyatt, and father, Charles Pettifer, had separated in the 1990s, and Charles later married Tiggy, who is the godmother to Pettifer’s younger siblings.
Prince William and Prince Harry are also closely connected with the Pettifer family, with Prince William being godfather to Tiggy’s son Tom and Prince Harry to Fred.
The attack was later confirmed to have been a terror act, with Jabbar allegedly having ISIS sympathies. In a series of videos posted before the attack, Jabbar expressed his support for the terrorist group.
The FBI is continuing its investigation, with further details emerging about his motivations and actions before the massacre.
