2 policemen named in bullion van robberies shot dead, 5 others arrested

Ghana Police Service has announced in a newly released statement that two of its policemen who were involved in the recent bullion van robberies in Accra have been shot dead.

This happens to be an update to their recently released Press Statement on Monday, March 7, 2022, where they revealed that they are working very hard to get a grip of those involved in the recent bullion van robberies from 2021 to February 2022.

In Monday’s release, Ghana Police announced that they have made a breakthrough in their months of investigations into the robberies that were recorded in the Greater Accra Region, where they also disclosed that as at that moment they were able to establish the involvement of Two policemen among other suspects.

Update On Bullion Van Robbery Investigation.

On Tuesday, March 8, 2022, the law enforcement body released a follow-up statement to their previously released statement which gave n update regarding their investigation into the robberies.

According to the news release, after an intelligence-led field raid at a hideout of the gang connected with the investigation into the bullion van robberies the police were able to make some interesting developments.

The raid which was carried out at Borteyman near Ashaiman on Tuesday, March 8, involved the exchange of gunshots leading to two police who had earlier been arrested in connection with the bullion van robberies losing their lives after getting got and were being transported to the police hospital to receive health care treatment.

The two policemen, were identified as No.58284 Constable Reindolph Gyimah Ansah and No. 53549 Lance Corporal Stephen Kwaku Nyame.

According to the statement, some other suspects who are believed to have sustained gunshot wounds managed to escape from the scene, the further investigation also led to the arrest of five (5) other suspects, four of whom are also policemen, while the police is still pursuing other five civilian suspects who have gone into hiding.

Four Policemen Arrested

The identities of the four Police personnel arrested for their involvement, are; No. 58370 Constable Affisu Yaro Ibrahim, No 58355 Constable Richard Boadu, No. 58525 Constable Rabiu Jambedu, No. 58586 Constable Albert Ofosu and suspect, a civilian who is also identified as Razak Alhassan.

The police is however pleading with the general public and health facilities within the Accra-Tema area to reports to the police if they find any persons with gunshot wounds.
