Renowned rapper Busta Rhymes, whose real name is Trevor George Smith Jr., faces legal trouble after reportedly assaulting a man in Brooklyn, the incident occurred on January 14, prompting an investigation by local authorities.
The 52-year-old artist, famous for hits like “Round Round,” allegedly punched a 50-year-old man multiple times during a verbal confrontation in a building near Jay Street and Front Street in the Dumbo neighborhood.
Officers from the 84 Precinct responded to the altercation shortly after 7 p.m.
The victim sustained noticeable swelling on the left side of his face and was taken to NYC Health and Hospitals/Woodhull for medical attention, he remains in stable condition, according to police reports.
Rhymes has been charged with third-degree assault. While not held in custody, he has received a desk appearance ticket, requiring him to appear in court to address the charges, Police are continuing their investigation into the matter.

Speculation has arisen that the victim is Rhymes’ assistant, Dashiel Gables, when contacted by the New York Post on January 16, Gables declined to comment, citing legal advice from his attorneys.This is not Rhymes’ first encounter
with legal issues. In 2015, the rapper was arrested for allegedly striking a gym employee with a protein drink. Earlier, in 2007, he faced charges for driving while intoxicated after his vehicle was observed swerving erratically through Manhattan streets.
Despite these past incidents, Rhymes continues to maintain a strong presence in the music industry, with fans rallying behind him.
Coincidentally, the news of Rhymes’ arrest arrives alongside the release of his latest EP, Dragon Season… The Awakening, which debuted on January 17.
